■「鳥の渡り」と「季節表記」に悩む…の巻　

　鳥の「渡り」に関する説明文を書こうとして、安易に「多くの渡り鳥は、○が近づくと北に向かい、□が近づくと南に向かう」とタイプし始め、この○と□に何を入れれば良いのだろう…と悩んでしまった。なぜかというと、本当は７月とか１月とかいう時期を入れたいのだけれど、数字を入れると厳密過ぎる。かといって、「夏」とか「冬」とかいう言葉を入てしまうと、夏冬といった季節と月は北半球・南半球の間で正反対になってしまうので、何だか現実と上手くあてはまらなくなってしまうからだ。

　現象はとても単純で、北半球が暖かい時期は（それをローカルに夏と呼びたくなるけど、そういうわけにはいかない）渡り鳥は北に向かい、南半球が暖かい時期は（それを冬と呼びたくなるけれど、以下同文）彼らは南に向かう…というだけだ。ただ、その時期を大雑把に表すのに「上手い言葉」が見つからない…のである。

　気のせいかもしれないけれど、大雑把と客観的という言葉を兼ね備えた言葉は、何だか少ない気がする。大雑把な言葉はえてして主観的で、客観的な言葉は必要以上に定量的で…その中間的な言葉をわたしたちは上手く持ち合わせていないような気がする。

■「自動販売機の下にお金が落ちてる確率」は１/１５５＝約0.6パーセント！　

　「自動販売機の下にお金が落ちてる確率」を計算するために、フィールドワークと言う名の下に「日の出と共に、懐中電灯もって自販機の下を除いて廻る作業」をしてきた。「お金が見つかるまで頑張って自販機の下を覗いて廻ろう」と心を奮い立たせながら街をウロウロしてみた。

　その結果、調査開始後３時間経過した６４個目の自動販売機で「１円玉」を発見した。たかが１円…されど１円、これでやる気が出てさらに廻って、トータル１５５個の自動販売機の下を覗いてみたけれど、結局自販機の下に落ちていた小銭は１円玉が一個っきりだった。

　つまり、「自動販売機の下にお金が落ちてる確率」は結局トータル１/１５５＝約0.06パーセントだった。ちなみに、日の出と同時に調査スタートしたので、他の類似作業をしてる人が「すでに拾ってる」可能性は低い状態でこの数字なんである。…ネットを検索すると「自販機の下にお金が落ちている確率は１０％程度」なんて情報がヒットするけど、あれは間違いなく、今日調査した横浜あたりでは全くあてはまらない数字だ。今は小銭だって大事に扱われる時代なのである。

To say the truth, I don't know her real real name and who she actually is. Or, I don't know if she really existed or not. However, I believe that not only me but tremendous peoples loves her face (and smile).

　How many people can say they felt the brushstrokes of a Rembrant painting? Well everyone who went to this exhibition at the Canon expo…

　However, as fun as it might be to grope photos of incredibly muscular people, textural printing has the potential to change how we interact with fine art as well. The tactility of a piece can be replicated, whether it's made of metal, cloth or other materials. This means that small physical details from paintings like the weave of the canvas, or the drips, ridges and cracks of the paint itself -- things that normally can't be perceived in reprints -- can be recreated as well. This makes it possible to create a true-to-life reproduction of a painting like Johannes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and exhibit it anywhere in the world without fear of damage to the original object. And though Canon will never be able to replicate the thrill of seeing the real thing for art aficionados, being able to touch the paintings will probably make school trips to the art museum a little less boring for kids.

■実写 進撃の巨人 後編のYahoo!映画ユーザ・レビュー点数を「投稿時間・点数」で散布図にしてみた　

　実写映画「進撃の巨人 ATTACK ON TITAN エンド オブ ザ ワールド」のYahoo!映画ユーザ・レビューの点数が低い。ふと、ユーザー投稿時間がレビュー点数に影響を与える可能性があるだろうか？と考えて、６４０人分のレビューを「投稿時間・点数」で散布図にしてみました。点数は２０，４０，６０，１００点という２０点おきだったので、散布点が見やすいように点数に若干のランダムノイズを加えてみました。

　結果は、単純に夜３時から朝６時くらいまでは（点数に関わらず）投稿数が少ない…という普通の結果になりました。 深夜の投稿は（気分がハイになって）点数が高くなるとか（その逆に）低くなる…といった傾向はみられませんでした。

　ちなみに、Yahoo!映画ユーザ・レビュー６５５人分を、日時順に並ぶ時系列で点数変化を眺めてみたのが下図になります。眺めていると、各レビュアーの行動パターンが感じられて面白いかもしれません。
